AFDA alumna Faith Riyano, completed her BA in Motion Picture Medium majoring in cinematography in 2018. In October 2019 she sprung upon an advert for the I am Africa Short Film Festival competition on the AFDA alumni facebook page. She quickly acted on the advert and managed to produce the short film "Eyelash" five days before the competition submission deadline.

“I am humbled to announce that after more than 160 submissions, my film "Eyelash", on which I was producer/writer/cinematographer and colorist, won the “Jury Award" at the I am Africa Short Film Festival and as a result won a screening at the Pan African Film Festival in Los Angeles in February 2020. This includes an all paid expense trip to attend the festival.” says Faith.

“I was also happy to see fellow AFDA films in the competition's semifinals:  “Sicela Amanzi”, “Umsolwa” and “Mom I need oil for my car”. All these films including my film are currently available for viewing on The Pan African Film Festival YouTube Channel. My remarkable journey behind the making of this film has been featured in The Southern Times”
