AFDA students and alumni on award winning streak

In the last week AFDA students and alumni picked up three prestigious awards at the Loeries, Silwerskermfees and Sanlam Portrait Awards.

AFDA Cape Town 2018 third year graduation film, “Beyond Repair”, directed by Chadlee Skrikker, picked up a Bronze Loerie Award in the Student – Online Film, Short Film & Music Videos category.

At the Silwerskermfees 2019, the feature film “Fiela se Kind”, got the nod from the festival goers winning the Audience Choice Award.  “Fiela se Kind” was produced by alumnus Danie Bester, written and directed by alumnus Brett Michael Innes, shot by alumnus Tom Marais and edited by alumnus C.A. van Aswegan.

Alumnus Craig Cameron-Mackintosh, an artist, writer and director scooped up the very prestigious Sanlam Portrait Award for his portrait “Lesala in Silhouette”. In the same week Craig’s first documentary Billy Monk – Shot in the Dark, a short documentary that he directed about the legendary and enigmatic South African photographer Billy Monk screened at Silwerskermfees.

AFDA is registered as the South African School of Motion Picture Medium and Live Performance, and is a private higher education institution which offers higher certificate and degree programmes. It is registered with the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) as a private higher education institution under the the Higher Education Act, 1997.
