AFDA Cape Town 2017 undergraduate 3rd year film ‘Junior’ scooped up the best student award at the Kasi Vibe Festival held at the Alexandra Olive Tree Theatre on the 30 November to 2 December 2018. Six other 2017 AFDA graduation films were also selected to screen at the festival; Palaelo, Un-Do-Able, Terra, Izilwane, On the Fence and Umsolwa.

KVFF was initiated in 2016 but only started to materialize in 2017. KVFF has it’s own unique voice to reverberate topics of magnanimity towards the audience, so as to build cinema audience with an appreciation of local stories of South Africa.

KVFF entails a screening program ranging from documentaries (short & long form), Feature films & Student short films.

Filmmaking workshops were included in the program, from screenwriters to directors to cinematographers to sound recordists.

AFDA is the South African School of Motion Picture Medium and Live Performance, and is registered with the Department of Higher Education and Training as a private higher education institution under the Higher Education Act, 1997. Registration certificate no. 2001/HE07/012.
