AFDA Cape Town alumna, Andisiwe Dweba, more popularly known as “Getty” in the South African soapie “Generations the Legacy” has always had a passion for the arts.
Her love for the arts started at a very young age, getting involved in drama and dance at the age of 9. After completing her Matric in Port Elizabeth she studied at AFDA Cape Town, majoring in Live Performance.
Soon after graduating, Andisiwe landed roles in a number of TV dramas including Kululeka, Stokvel, Final Verdict and the BBC series, Flight of the Stalk.
She has also starred in a number of television ads for Spur, Caltex, RCS Loans, KFC and will always be remembered as the “Alwaaaaayyyzzzzz” girl in the Pep Cell ad.
Andisiwe is currently working on “diversity and inclusion” globally with CSW global an American industrial theatre company that trains corporations about diversity and inclusion the work place. She hopes to inspire the youth to build a more diverse South Africa that is accepting of people regardless of race, sexuality and gender.
Andisiwe also does motivational speaking in schools about these issues. She aspires to be a filmmaker in the future and take back her skills to the Eastern Cape where she was born. Her passion is to make a difference through arts.
AFDA is the South African School of Motion Picture Medium and Live Performance, and is registered with the Department of Higher Education and Training as a private higher education institution under the Higher Education Act, 1997. Registration certificate no. 2001/HE07/012.
