‘HEART-SHAPED BLINDFOLD’ - NIKKI BUYS (MONIQUE BUYS)
In Heart-Shaped Blindfold we mourn the loss of common sense.
He has been alive for many years although no one knows for how long, and will be remembered for the many lessons
he has taught us. Not many attended his funeral because so few realized he was gone.
Common sense is not present when looking for love.
It is further ignored in the absurd lengths that people go to when they are in love.
Letting articles like, “signs that your partner is cheating on you”, and quizzes like, “build a taco and we’ll tell you
if your relationship is doomed” determine the direction of their love life.
Nikki Buys explores love and relationships to determine how and why common sense goes out the window
when looking for love, falling in love and losing a love. Why is it that love makes us go crazy but improves our
physical health and mental health at the same time…. ?

‘ACCULTURATED’ - ANDIEZEL (ANDILE NXELE)
In ”Acculturated”, Andiezel takes us through a series of emotions as she dissects the all time controversy of true identity.
With South Africa having been a colonised country, many western cultures were introduced to the African people,
one of which is religion. Religion is a generation habit that cannot be broken simply because of it becoming a way of life –
from the teachings found in the Bible to the daily rituals.
She also tackles African culture, questions as to how it all began and why it's essential to keep the culture, the heritage alive. Using songs that move you soul deep and captivate your mind, she displays how the clash of these two
aspects has shaped the woman she is today, not forgetting that the struggle and war of true dentity is one we have
to be armoured up for daily, because if and when forgotten, we lose the true essence of being human.
