AFDA Cape Town screenwriting lecturers Peter and Margaret Goldsmid were both on stage during the 2016 Writers Guild of South Africa Muse Awards, held at the Soweto Theatre last Saturday. Margaret, one of the Guild’s Vice Chairs, addressed the audience on the Professional Development Programme of the Guild, while Peter went up to collect the Award for Best Spec Script for his screenplay adaptation of the celebrated Christopher Hope novel, “The love songs of Nathan J Swirsky”.

In Peter’s acceptance speech, he thanked Christopher Hope for giving him an option on the rights to his brilliant novel, the National Film and Video Foundation for funding the screenplay, Margaret Goldsmid for her creative and insightful script editing and the Writers Guild for the Muse Awards that encourage and inspire South African writers.
