Recognised Prior Learning (RPL) Applications
Applicants wishing to join AFDA for the first time and go into second year should indicate the disciplines they intend to study. Second-year students take two disciplines as their majors. Third and fourth years specialize in one major. The selection of your level and discipline depends on your recognised prior learning (RPL) and how you can demonstrate that you have the skills and knowledge of your chosen discipline(s). Based on your application, we will notify you with our recommendations or limitations of discipline choices.

Please note:
AFDA does not permit RPL applicants to pursue Directing as a major in second, third and fourth years without applicable RPL requirements and an interview with the Discipline Champion. RPL admission is at the discretion of the Principal. Third year is not recommended as an entry level for RPL applicants. Instead, RPL applicants are recommended to enter second year. Exceptions may be made for fourth year students. AFDA acknowledges any level of study in a related field at another tertiary institution to be on the same level, provided that the learner demonstrates the core competencies, at both an intellectual and technical level, required by the AFDA curriculum. Successful RPL applicants will need to successfully complete bridging tasks to help orientate themselves within the AFDA learning environment.
