August 30, 2016 11:11 am

AFDA Durban’s Head of Postgraduate Studies, Janet van Eeden has a considerable number  of projects  happening starting with the the London Screenwriters’ Festival which kicks off on the 1st September  2016. Two of Janet’s scripts have been selected out of 100s entered for two special events as well as a couple more titbits for good measure .

Her  feature film script A Hyena in Petticoats has been selected for an exclusive one-on-one session at the  London Screenwriters Festival Script Surgery with internationally renowned Euroscript Surgery Experts.

Janet’s  play In-Gene-Uity has also been selected by London Screenwriters Festival for an Actor’s Table Read. It will be read by professional actors and director who will direct them also in September.

Janet will also pitch A Hyena in Petticoats at the LSF Pitchfest. This is speed-dating for pitching where you get five minutes to pitch to a room full on international industry experts over a 90 minute period. “I’ve done it twice before in 2013 and in 2014 and it’s great fun. You also form good relationships with experts in the film industry.” says Janet.

After that Janet has been invited to give a three-day workshop about writing for wildlife film to the Beyond Borders Film School in the Kruger Park in the second week of September. This is on the strength of her feature film script for the internationally released wildlife film White Lion (2010).

Lastly, Janet has written the stage play The Space Between for the AFDA Durban Live Performance Honours students, Mishka Gounden and Trent Moffet. It is being directed by industry professional Clinton Marius and will be performed on September 26th and 27th at the #ShakespeareMustFall Festival at UKZN Durban.
